Worrying Won't Solve It, God Will (How to Let Go and Trust God’s Plan)

Updated: 6 days ago

A young woman looking out the window

How many times have you stayed up late worrying about a problem? Or worse—worrying about a potential problem that might not even exist?

If we're honest with ourselves, we'll admit that worrying doesn’t solve anything—but it does cloud our vision and block God’s peace.

This morning, during my devotional time, God opened my eyes to something powerful. As I read Matthew 6:21, I cross-referenced Luke 12:21 and Luke 12:25—passages that often address money and possessions. But the Holy Spirit revealed something deeper:

Worrying is a thief.

Instead of helping us, worry:

Steals our clarity.

Steals our peace.

Steals our trust in God.

Let me break this down and talk about how we can replace worry with trust.

A quote by Jessica Frazier

The Truth About Worry: It's a Thief

  1. Worry Steals Your Clarity

When we focus on fear and anxiety, we lose sight of truth.

Instead of thinking clearly, we spiral into confusion.

Instead of trusting God, we start making decisions out of fear.

God’s Word brings clarity but worry clouds our vision.

  1. Worry Steals Your Peace

Worry doesn’t just affect your mind—it affects your body and spirit.

It causes stress, exhaustion, and mood swings.

It distracts us from God’s presence and peace.

But God created you to live in harmony with His Spirit, not in constant anxiety.

  1. Worry Steals Your Trust in God

Think about it—

If we truly trust someone, we don’t second-guess them, right?

But worry does exactly that. It makes us doubt God and what He can do.

Every time we let worry take over, we’re telling God:

“I don’t think You’ve got this.”

I know that’s a hard truth, but let’s be real, Sis. Worry is rooted in fear and lies—and it’s time to expose them.

The Root of Worry: Fear and Lies

For many of us, worry isn’t just about actual problems; it’s about the problems we imagine.

And guess what? The enemy loves planting lies in our minds.

“What if they don’t like me?”

“What if I’m not good enough?”

“What if everything falls apart?”

Let me remind you that these thoughts are NOT from God.

They are fear-based lies meant to distract us from God’s truth and peace.

To overcome them, we stop worrying and start trusting.

Stop Worrying and Start Trusting: 3 Real Steps to Freedom

Whenever I catch myself worrying, I take these three steps, and I want you to try them too.

1. Call Out the Lie

Ask yourself:

What am I believing right now?

Is it true, or is it a lie from the enemy?

Then, compare it to God’s Word:

Lie: “This situation will never get better.”

Truth: “With God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

God’s truth always trumps the enemy’s lies.

2. Give the Problem to God

Instead of overthinking, take your worries to God in prayer.

“Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Prayer isn’t just a religious practice; it’s a bold act of trust.

Try this:

  • Write down your worry.

  • Pray over it.

  • Release it to God.

3. Choose Action Over Anxiety

Worry paralyzes, but faith moves forward. Instead of sitting in fear, take one step of faith. Have that tough conversation, seek wise counsel, take action, or simply trust and wait on God.

Every step you take in faith weakens worry’s grip on your life.

A quote by Jessica Frazier

God’s Peace Is Greater Than Your Worry

Let me be real with you, friend:

You weren’t created to carry the weight of worry.

You weren’t meant to handle everything alone.

You NEED the power of Jesus Christ.

He is your: Provider, Protector, Peace.

Whatever you’re facing right now—God already has a solution.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Begin to break the cycle of worry by making it a daily habit to:

Read God’s Word.

Pray and seek His guidance.

Trust Him over fear.

Because worry won’t solve it—but GOD WILL.

Where Do You Place Your Trust?

Here's your assignment for this week. In your quiet time, pray and then do some inner reflection. Be sure to write down your thoughts in your journal.

  1. Am I trying to handle everything on my own?

  2. Do I trust God’s promises more than my fears?

  3. Is there an area of worry that I can surrender to Him right now?
